There is a range of interesting events and festivals that take place around the Dyfi Biosphere all year round. Including Machynlleth Comedy Festival, the mountain biking Enduro race and the unique Latin American music festival: "El Sueno Existe". There is something for everybody.

2017 around the Dyfi Biosphere

Machynlleth Festival

The annual Machynlleth Festival provides a week-long feast of the finest classical music, with talks, interviews and masterclasses, as well as a jazz night. The wonderful opening Cymanfa Ganu is an opportunity to sing or hear Welsh hymns ringing round a concert hall that has one of the finest acoustics in Britain and Europe. Y Tabernacl, Machynlleth; last week in August.

Aberdyfi Food Festival

Saturday August 19th. 10.30 - 16.30

Come together to celebrate all things Food & Drink. Michelin Star Chef Gareth Ward from Ynyshir Hall is again our special Festival guest and will kick off the cooking demonstrations in the theatre kitchen at 11.00.

Come and witness live cooking demonstrations on Aberdovey Wharf, and enjoy a wide range of local produce stands and high quality farmers market stalls.

In addition to the Festival on the Wharf, our Village Food Trail will help you explore the village food outlets, providing anything from swift snacks to the very best of restaurant meals.
The Festival is free of charge.

R S Thomas Literary Festival and Poetry Competition

15,16,17 September 2017

As a tribute to the Rev R S Thomas who was Vicar of St Michael's Church Eglwysfach from 1954 to 1967, the Parochial Church Council is holding their fourth festival in his honour. It will spread over 3 days. On Friday 15 September, the well known local photographer, Jeremy Moore will take a walk over the poet’s favourite spots where he gained his inspiration during that period.

Machynlleth Lantern Procession

2nd week of half term

An amazingly magical, community led, illuminated procession down Machynlleth high street every October.
The lantern making workshops will be held during half term and there is a different theme each year
