This is the home page for Tyfu Dyfi – food, nature and wellbeingA Welsh Government funded Enabling Natural Resources and Well-being (ENRaW) project that ran from the 1st of September 2021 to the 30th of September, 2023.  

The aim of the project was to increase the number of growing sites in the Dyfi Biosphere area for food, nature and well-being.  All activities related to sustainability, establishing growing sites, involving the local community, and supporting the development of short supply chains.

All Tyfu Dyfi activities involved some element of community engagement. Click on the button to find detail on how people were engaged and how this led to key project outputs such as those listed above and the revamped online food hub.

In keeping with a UNESCO biosphere project, Tyfu Dyfi looks to the future but seeks to learn from the past.  In other words, we view our local food system through an agroecological lens.

Historically, agriculture in Bro Ddyfi was more diverse.  Click on the button to see maps showing the previous extent of arable cultivation and hear from older farmers who remember when far more people worked on the land.

As the biodiversity crisis and climate change take hold, it's important to know what crops will grow in the future and develop tools that help us understand how we can produce food sustainably.
