Anyone interested in developing an action plan for trees in the Biosphere is welcome at an event on Monday11 May at CAT. [Darllen yn Gymraeg]

A group led by Ceredigion Local Nature Partnership is holding a public event to support tree and woodland work in the Biosphere on Monday 11th May at 1.30-4.30pm at the Centre for Alternative Technology, Machynlleth.
The event is supported by a range of organisations involved in woodland development and anyone who owns or manages a woodland, or is interested in creating a new one, is welcome.
“The idea is to make the most of all the benefits that trees and woodlands can provide, including timber, wildlife, shelter for livestock, and beautiful places to visit, and to do that by connecting them and developing a strategic approach across a catchment area,” said Ceredigion Local Nature Partnership’s Fiona Moran.
“Having the project in the Biosphere means that we can connect woodlands with our other thematic areas, including education, the well-being economy and outdoor health.”
Alice Briggs, partnership project manager of Tir Canol, said, “It’s fantastic to see this initiative to raise awareness of the benefits of the trees and woodlands in the Biosphere. This builds on and adds value to the positive work we already have under way with landowners, farmers and local communities. By working together through these partnership projects, we will all be able to contribute to a Dyfi Tree and Woodland Resource Action Plan that’s being developed for the future.”
At the event, there will be an opportunity to find out more about the woodland projects and to decide if you want to join the Action Plan. There will be a tour of the woodland at CAT, which is part of the National Forest for Wales, as well as refreshments and discussions.
The event is part of a project which runs until March 2027. Its other activities include tree-planting, habitat management, footpath repairs, school visits and volunteering. Another feature is the marketing of commercial woodland products such as furniture, charcoal and saplings through the CoedNet website.
The project partners include Ceredigion County Council, Coed Lleol (Small Woods Wales), Tir Coed, Coetir Anian, RSPB, Llais y Goedwig and the Dyfi Biosphere. Supporting partners include Tir Canol, Coed Cadw/The Woodland Trust in Wales, and Natural Resources Wales.
If you would like to attend, please email Fiona Moran on fiona.moran@ceredigion.gov.uk by Thursday 7 May.
